Family says Madeline Vernon passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29 due to complications from the flu. RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A 9-year-old Randolph County girl died from flu complications, according to her family. Madeline "Maddie" Grace Vernon was diagnosed with the flu on Jan. 25. Her mother, Mary Edging, took her to Randolph Hospital, and Maddie was sent home that day.  As Maddie's symptoms worsened, she struggled to breathe.  Edging said on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Maddie woke up with a 104.9 temperature. Her parents took her back to Urgent Care, and then her daughter was rushed to Moses Cone Hospital. Doctors placed her on a ventilator to help her breathe, but her condition continued to decline. 18-year-old Uriah Urek and 17-year-old Tara King are charged in connection with the death of Tammy King. GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Two teens wanted in a capital murder investigation have been arrested in Laredo, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. Detectives had previously identified a couple -- 18-year-old Uriah Urek and 17-year-old Tara King -- as persons of interest in the death of Tammy King. King was found dead on Thursday, Feb. 6.  Her body was discovered when deputies showed up at a house on 15th Street in Bacliff after getting a call from a friend who wasn't able to get hold of her. SPRING, Texas – Two people have been formally charged after they were involved in a murder that led to a manhunt in Spring. Jerod Cordarius Jones, 17, has been charged with murder. His accomplice, 18-year-old Lloyd Lewis, has been charged with tampering with evidence. Recommended Videos The shooting took place on Friday, Jan. 7, at around 1 p.m. Authorities responded to the 300 block of Cypresswood Drive and found a male with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. The shooting occurred when Reese was in his car, and the people involved in the murder had fled the scene.
